Project

Socially engaged art project developed in the Barrio do Pendão, in Sintra, on the outskirts of Lisbon. The project began with a proposal made by the Aga Khan Foundation, with whom was established a collaboration platform to initiate a project with a group of local residents. The initiative aimed to support locals and enhance knowledge through the identification and mapping of techniques and arts and crafts developed from their cultural heritage. This social engagement was based on art and design as tools for reproducing the creative process, improving participants’ technical and artistic skills, and leveraging business ideas that some products could originate.

Participants

António Gorgel Pinto and Paula Reaes Pinto in collaboration with Eduina Vaz, Ana Fernandes and other locals.

Project duration

2018 – 2019
