7 November 2018 Delft University of Technology
On Wednesday 7 November 2018, REDES’ researcher João Ferreira defended his PhD thesis at Delft University. His research was supervised by REDES group coordinator Professor Rita Almendra and TU Delft professors Henri Christiaans and Paul Hekkert.
João’s thesis is entitled “Design Conversations: An Exploratory Study of Teacher and Student Interaction in the Design Studio”; you can find a link to the document in TU Delft’s repository.
During the session, João had 20 minutes to present his research which focused on design education. Specifically, João concentrated on teacher-student communication in the design studio; he argued that these one-on-one meetings are crucial for design education since they constitute the moment when learning how to design occurs.
