Pedro Cortesão Monteiro

Pedro Cortesão Monteiro has a degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (1990) and a master’s degree in Equipment and Product Design from the same faculty (1998). He has a PhD in Design from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon (2014), with a thesis entitled “The question of design: (in)definitions and misunderstandings between form, fame and function”. 

He taught on the Design degree course at Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa between 1995 and 2020, as well as on the master’s degree course (of which he was coordinator between 2016 and 2020). He is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, where he has taught since 2009, and where, since 2020, he has been coordinator of the Design Degree.
