Researcher
Assistant Professor at FAUL and multidisciplinary designer combining strong research, analysis and experimental approach skills. Interested in real or speculative projects that spark innovation or question the role of the concept and perception, driving Design and the sustainable imperative forward. Mainly focused on the development of goods or materials fitting Nature rationale (local, light, efficient, minimum energy, no waste).
MPhil (2010) and PhD from University of Lisbon (2016), having developed the practical laboratorial stage as a Scientific Researcher at the University of Leeds (UK), with a FCT Funded project. Holds several diplomas from institutions such as DELFT University (NL), Wageningen University (NL). Collaborator at CIAUD – Lisbon School of Architecture since 2013 becoming a full member in 2018, coordinating projects and supervising several Master and PhD students.
Scientific dissemination from funded projects include a body of work (papers, book chapters, etc.) on practices around sustainable design aspects and the application of the Biological Sciences (e.g. Biotechnology) as well as the Circular Economy model to rethink materials and develop products. Subjects are discussed through three main perspectives – Sustainability Strategies, Science/Technology, Social Innovation/Wellbeing.
Aside from academia, she has worked in several different Creative fields over the years, from Television Production to Product Design, Textiles, Illustration, etc., (Lisbon- PT, London-UK, Kobe-JP, Sydney-AU). She is currently a member of the executive board of the OMSN Non-Profit Association, in the North Portugal, project aiming at empowering the community through a holist approach to education.
