
Elisabete Rolo
Contributing Researcher
Elisabete Rolo is a communication design professor and researcher at the Lisbon School of Architecture – Universidade de Lisboa. She started her professional activity at B2 Atelier de Design (2002-2010) and developed projects in several areas of communication design as a freelancer (since 2010). She holds a degree in Tecnologia e Artes Gráficas from the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (2002) and a PhD in Design from the Lisbon School of Architecture – Universidade de Lisboa (FAUL), with the thesis “Olhar, jogo, espírito de serviço: Sebastião Rodrigues e o design gráfico em Portugal (2015)”. She develops postdoctoral studies at FAUL under the title “Editorial Design: Theories and [Good] Practices” and coordinates the research group “Typo.Graphicæ: practice, theory and history”. She is a full member of the Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design (CIAUD). Her leading research and publication areas are editorial design, typography, visual identity, history and theory of communication design.
