A primeira edição da Research and Education in Design Conference organizada pelo grupo decorreu na Faculdade de Arquitetura de Lisboa – Universidade de Lisboa entre os dias 13 e 15 de novembro de 2019.
A conferência começou com um seminário sobre pesquisa em design e uma palestra do professor John Gero. Durante a conferência, houve três keynotes dos académicos de renome Ken Friedman, Barbara Tversky e Gabriela Goldschmidt, e a conferência terminou com um debate entre Bernhard Bürdek e John Gero moderado pelo Professor José Rui Marcelino do Departamento de Design da Escola de Lisboa de Arquitetura.
A conferência foi repleta de trocas animadas de ideias entre os delegados da conferência e palestras com várias conversas improvisadas baseadas nas perguntas e respostas perspicazes da sessão, e as palestras desafiaram todos a refletir sobre o futuro do Design em um mundo cada vez mais complexo e global.
A conferência foi um evento inspirador e esperamos aproveitar os insights para melhorar as práticas e pesquisas educacionais do design.
A publicação dos papers da conferência está prevista para maio de 2020 assim como a publicação em vídeo das palestras no site da conferência.

Lisbon School of Architecture
The first Research and Education in Design Conference organized by the group was held at the Lisbon School of Architecture – Universidade de Lisboa between 13 and 15 of November 2019.
The conference began with a seminar on design research and a talk by Professor John Gero. During the conference, there were three keynote talks by renowned scholars Ken Friedman, Barbara Tversky, and Gabriela Goldschmidt, and the conference ended with a debate between Bernhard Bürdek and John Gero moderated by Professor José Rui Marcelino from the Design Department of the Lisbon School of Architecture.
The conference was full of lively exchanges of ideas between the conference delegates and keynotes with several impromptu conversations building on the session’s insightful Q&As, and the keynote talks challenged everyone to reflect on the future of Design in an increasingly complex and global world.
Overall, the conference was an inspirational event, and we hope to build on the insights to improve design’s educational practices and research.
Publication of the conference proceedings is planned for May 2020, and we will publish video highlights of the keynote talks on the conference website at the same time.
