Ana Neto is a collaborating researcher at CIAUD – Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design, and is part of research group REDES – Research and Education in Design, where she collaborated as a research assistant under a research grant awarded in 2021. She graduated in Communication Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (2012) and specialized in Pattern Cutting and Apparel Development\u00a0 at Modatex (2013). Ana is a PhD candidate in Design at the Lisbon School of Architecture and was awarded a PhD studentship by the Portuguese national funding agency for science, research and technology (FCT) in 2021. Her research is focused on how people engage with their clothes beyond the point of purchase and before disposal in order to understand how wearer-clothing relationships can last for longer. Ana worked as a product developer in the clothing industry for 5 years in different environments and product categories. She also worked freelance in technical illustration and gave vocational training on product development for 2 years.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ana\u2019s PhD research is ongoing and is focusing on the relationships wearers have with their clothes, and how sustainable everyday practices of wear that already exist can be brought to the foreground and supported by design. Moreover, it seeks to understand the role of communities in supporting these practices and nurturing the appreciation for the human and natural resources embedded in clothing. Ana was part of the Organising Committee for the Research & Education in Design Conference (REDES2022) and has been involved in a research project focused on design knowledge produced at the doctoral level and seeks to understand how this knowledge can be successfully transferred to society.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
